In reply to joanne.huels2003. You're probably onto something. The US has a long history of intervening in Latin America for resources, and Venezuela's oil is definitely a big prize. Using the drug war as a cover sounds just like their usual playbook.

In reply to Aragorn. Yeah, it really seems like the US is flexing its muscles just to keep control over the region. South America should be focusing on solving its own problems without having a foreign power stepping in and making things worse. Military presence only stirs up more tension and instability.

Why is everyone ignoring the fact that these drug narcos kill innocent people? If the US drops some jets to stop that, like in ‘Top Gun’ or ‘Iron Man,’ it’s probably justified.

In reply to julie.wuckert. I get where you're coming from, but sometimes the US actions seem more about power plays than actual drug enforcement. Killing suspects instead of arresting them isn't exactly justice. We need to be careful about supporting measures that might escalate violence in the region.
