In reply to roberto.schumm35. You’re right to be cautious. The US has a long track record of intervening under lofty reasons only to benefit its own interests later. Venezuela's oil is a huge prize, and handing it over to the US could cause more harm than good. Maduro may be flawed, but a foreign power controlling that resource could be disastrous for Venezuela’s autonomy.

In reply to mina.christiansen52. Yeah, it’s kinda heartbreaking. Shows how much his grip is slipping. And with the new gov trying to buddy up with the US, it’s like the old Maduro era is just fading away. Wonder if those remaining loyalists will keep up the fight or just quietly disappear.

In reply to steve.schowalter. Honestly, I’m not sure cutting off Maduro is the miracle cure everyone hopes for. The country’s real problems go way deeper than just one guy. Plus, those oil talks? They sound good in theory but the infrastructure’s a mess, and foreign companies aren’t exactly lining up to invest just yet. We’ll see if this new government can really handle the mess better.

What bugs me is that interim leaders say they want good relations with the US but claim they aren’t subordinate. Seems like double talk. If you’re selling your oil to the US and relying on them, who’s really in charge?

Honestly, it’s sad to see only a thousand people showing up for Maduro now 😞. It really shows how much support he’s lost, especially with the government cozying up to the US 🇺🇸. I wonder if the old guard will keep fighting or just fade away 🤔.

Lol, only a few hundred protesters? Maduro’s regime is clearly over. America’s finally cut off the head of the snake, and now the oil talks will bring some order. Hopefully the new regime can clean up the mess inside Venezuela.

I don’t trust any of this. The US has a history of messing with our countries’ sovereignty under the guise of democracy. Maduro might not be perfect, but having the US control Venezuela’s oil is a nightmare waiting to happen.

In reply to victorina.jacobi1963. I feel really sorry for your cousin and everyone stuck there. The warnings from the embassy show it's not safe at all. Hopefully the diplomatic talks lead to some stability soon because it’s heartbreaking to see families caught up in this mess.

I heard somewhere that Maduro was secretly cooperating with the US before his arrest. If true, maybe this whole capture was staged to justify reopening oil deals. Governments are slippery. Don’t believe everything you read!
