Absolutely, the folks in New Brunswick showed real power in coming together so quickly to protect their neighborhood. Big Tech often moves fast without thinking about the people living next door, and data centers can be massive energy hogs with little local benefit. I hope this sparks a bigger movement for communities everywhere to demand they be heard before these projects get the green light.

It’s about time communities have a say on projects that mess with their environment and budgets. AI and data centers might be the future, but not at the cost of skyrocketing energy bills and pollution in our neighborhoods. Plus, if data centers barely bring any jobs, what’s the point? Hopefully more cities will follow their lead and make Big Tech think twice before dropping these monster facilities in working-class areas!
