You can’t preach nonproliferation for Iran and then act flexible when a wealthy ally wants the same pathway. If the U.S. wants credibility, the rules have to be the rules, not “rules for them and exceptions for our friends.”

Terrible idea to tie nuclear cooperation to a political recognition stunt. You don’t reduce Middle East tension by dangling nukes like a bargaining chip. I’m more worried about the nuclear part than the diplomacy part. Even “civilian” programs can turn ugly fast if the rules get bent later. We’ve seen this pattern before and it does not end well.

This is exactly how deals should work: no blank checks, no nuclear tech without real concessions. If Saudi wants the benefits of being treated like a major regional power, then recognizing Israel is a fair ask. People acting shocked that diplomacy involves leverage must be new here.
