In reply to Ken_Else. I get the frustration, but with Iran’s track record, the US is gonna be extra cautious. If it’s truly just staff for the World Cup, then fine, but I can see why they don’t want to take chances right now. Sport shouldn’t be used as a loophole for security issues.

In reply to Kutch.Edwin43. Sure, but pretending this is just about “defense” is how we end up in endless war. Every time someone says it’s contained, the shipping lanes get hit, civilians panic, and then the politicians act shocked. Maybe stop feeding the fire and actually negotiate for once.

In reply to GayleWalter. I get the concern, but saying “both sides need to back off” is doing a lot of work here. One side is launching missiles and drones, the other is shooting them down. There’s a difference between restraint and letting attacks slide.

In reply to ChiJacobi. Yeah, because apparently everyone in power forgot that the Strait of Hormuz isn’t some local squabble, it’s a choke point for the entire global economy. One drone strike turns into higher bills in Ohio, Berlin, and Karachi. This is exactly why escalation is so stupid.
